How Staking Rewards and APY Work


Staking rewards on Revolution Network are dynamic. This means the rewards you earn — and the APY shown in Amped.bio — can change over time.


The easiest way to think about staking rewards is as a shared reward pool.


The network generates staking rewards, those rewards flow to participating nodes and Reward Pools, and then the available rewards are shared among the users staking REVO in those pools.


As the amount of rewards available or the amount of REVO being staked changes, the APY changes too.


What does APY mean?


APY is an annualized estimate of your current reward rate.


In simple terms, the APY shown in Amped.bio answers this question:


If the current reward conditions stayed approximately the same for an entire year, what annual reward rate would my staked REVO earn?


For example, if a Reward Pool currently shows an APY of 10%, that means the current reward rate is equivalent to roughly 10% per year if those same conditions continued.


It does not mean that 10% is guaranteed for the next year.


The APY can increase or decrease as network and staking conditions change.


How is APY calculated?


At a high level, Amped.bio looks at:


Annual rewards available to fans ÷ Total REVO staked by fans


This determines how much reward is currently available for each REVO being staked.


The full calculation also considers several factors before rewards reach fans, including:


  • How many staking rewards the Revolution Network is generating

  • The node's expected share of network rewards

  • The percentage of rewards retained by the node

  • The Reward Pool's share of the node's rewards

  • Any percentage allocated to the Reward Pool creator

  • The total amount of REVO fans have staked in the pool


These values combine to determine the current APY.


Why can my APY change?


There are several reasons.


1. More or fewer people stake REVO


This is one of the easiest factors to understand.


Imagine a Reward Pool is distributing a certain amount of rewards.


If 100,000 REVO are sharing those rewards, each staked REVO receives a certain portion.


If the total amount staked increases to 200,000 REVO while the available rewards stay the same, those rewards are now being shared among twice as much REVO.


That would reduce the reward rate for each staked REVO.


The opposite can also happen.


If users unstake and there is less REVO sharing the available rewards, the APY can increase.


2. The node's share of network rewards can change


Reward Pools receive rewards through staking nodes.


A node's expected share of network rewards can change based on network conditions and the amount of stake associated with it.


If a node becomes eligible to receive a greater share of the network's rewards, more rewards may become available to its Reward Pools.


This can increase APY.


3. Total network rewards can change


The total amount of staking rewards generated by Revolution Network can change over time.


If more rewards are available, the APY may increase.


If fewer rewards are available, the APY may decrease.


4. The Reward Pool's share can change


Each Reward Pool receives a portion of the rewards flowing through its node.


Changes to the amount of stake associated with the pool can affect how large that share is.


5. Node and creator reward percentages matter


Some rewards may be allocated to the staking node or the Reward Pool creator before the remaining rewards are distributed to fans.


A higher node or creator percentage means a smaller portion of the total rewards is available to fan stakers.


How are my personal rewards determined?


Your rewards depend mainly on:

  • How much REVO you have staked

  • Your share of the total fan stake

  • How many rewards are available to fans

  • How long your REVO remains staked


For example, if you represent approximately 5% of the total fan stake in a Reward Pool, you will generally receive approximately 5% of the rewards being distributed to fan stakers in that pool.


As your share of the pool changes, your rewards can change too.


A simple way to think about it


Think of staking rewards as a pie.


A bigger reward pie = potentially higher rewards.

More REVO sharing the same pie = a smaller reward per staked REVO.


Both things can change at the same time, which is why APY moves over time.


Is the displayed APY guaranteed?


No.


The APY displayed in Amped.bio is a current annualized estimate, not a fixed interest rate or guaranteed return.


It reflects current network, node, Reward Pool, and staking conditions.


As those conditions change, the displayed APY may increase or decrease.

APY Formula Explanation:


  • APY = (Annual Rewards / Total Fan Staked) × 10
  • Annual Rewards = System Annual Rewards × Node Win Probability × (1 - Node Cut) × Pool Share × (1 - Creator Cut)


As you can see from the formula, the APY value will change as Fans change their staking over time and as the Annual Rewards changes.
